Kayaking on Lac La Hache with Bill and Bobbie - in the creek which feeds the lake. Made it up to a beaver dam - very beautiful, with the evening light coming through the reeds.

I paddled back through these reeds hearing loons call. I wished I could take a movie so that I could preserve that magic - the sound of the reeds on the bottom of my boat, the loons, the sunlight low on the lake.

Sunset.

These are from our trip to Wells Grey park. The Clearwater river from the highway above.

Clearwater River again.

I think these falls were called Dawson Falls - we hiked in to 3 sets of falls. You can read about them here: https://www.wellsgray.ca/site/activities/waterfalls.html

These are the Helmcken Falls

The canyon cliffs were layered and quite beautifully coloured.

Not sure this is legible - but the website will give you the same info.

Lunch picnic site by the Clearwater River

This was the last falls we hiked in to. And probably the most dramatic in terms of height. So interesting the way the water had eroded the cliff edge.

And again, the layered limestone cliffs.

Doing my final preps (laundry etc) getting ready to head south tomorrow. Trying to get some campsites booked. There are plans for kayaking later today, and probably a swim. It's cool here in the morning but warms up to summer later in the day. This visit with my brother has been a wonderful haven and the source of some adventures I won't soon forget!

  1. Ooh, land of the dipper, cute little brown bird that bobs on rocks in streams. Lucky you.

    1. I've seen dippers all over BC and remember them well from my hiking adventures in my 20's. They are charming birds.
