Well, it was quite a day.
I began near Wiarton and drove up the peninsula to the ferry terminal at Tobermoray. My plan was to park in the ferry lineup and then walk into town to spend a couple of hours exploring. Instead, I was the last one on the 11 o’clock ferry. Lovely drive up – so much to explore, but I wanted to get on my way.

Since I was so early, I decided not to stay at Gore Bay which was 70km out of my way, and knowing I had a long drive tomorrow, I kept going. Through a Group of Seven painting. So beautiful. I stopped a few times to take pictures and stretch my legs. But by the time I reached Massey, I was suddenly exhausted. I saw a sign for Lakefront Resort and decided not to try and push through to the free camping. What I thought was billed as 1 km from highway 17 was 5 km. Then I couldn’t get the electric and water hooked up. I had jacked the trailer and truck earlier in the day, denting my beautiful new box. I decided to leave. But a very nice owner helped me out – reparked my trailer, hooked me up, and now I’m right beside a lake for the evening. The wind is coming up and the skies are getting grey.

There are times when I think I’ve taken on more than I can do. I get all kinds of messages that this is a man’s game, and I have no business doing it alone. And when I get tired, I start to believe it. Well, we’ll see how I feel in the morning.
