Walked 5km after breakfast while the bugs were still fairly quiet. Agawa Bay was a gathering place for Indigenous folks – a summer fishing ground. This cabin was the original house of the settlers who came to this bay. Try spending the winter in that!
Then I decided to give my kayak a try. I’d been hesitant to take it off the car as I’d had such a hard time putting it up there in the first place, but decided it was foolish to drive across the country with an unusable kayak, and that it was time to learn to cope.
The water was still and the sun was shining – it doesn’t get better. I paddled for a couple of hours – down to one end of the bay with some gorgeous cliffs – the rocks such lovely colours and shapes – and to the other end of the bay.
And I got the kayak back on the car – not easily, but more easily than the first time. Hopefully a combination of increased strength and technique will make this get easier.
